Four things determine how long your move will take.
What and how much you have to move. The more stuff you have, the longer it will take to load and unload. You can reduce your volume (and save money) by eliminating unwanted items. Consider a garage sale, or donating to charity.
The better prepared you are, the faster your movers can do the job. To save money, be as prepared as possible before the movers arrive. For example, pack your belongings in sealed, stackable boxes. (See our Packing Tips section for packing techniques.) Disconnect entertainment systems and large appliances. Disassemble beds and other multi-pieced furniture. Of course our movers are happy to do all of these things for you, but it will add to your total move time.
Ease of access cuts down on cost. You can increase access by clearing walkways and floor space. Some obstacles cannot be avoided, such as stairways or long carries between the truck and your home. Some furniture is too large to fit through certain doorways, so you can increase access by removing the door hinges and door jambs.
Travel time between your home and our headquarters factors into the hours billed for your move.
